2014 – New Adventure.
This summer we relocated to Penticton, BC. Jason accepted a head coaching position with the Okanagan Hockey Academy. We sold our house in Prince George in one day and bought a home in Penticton in one day – it was meant to be. Although we miss our Prince George friends, we are adapting to the Okanagan life quite nicely. Penticton has been very welcoming and we are very fortunate to have family in the Okanagan to share holidays and free weekends with. The kids have adapted so quickly after the move. They are happy, making plenty of friends and both doing exceptional in school - like I said before, it was meant to be.
Bella is all about the socializing. She was sad to move and leave all her Prince George friends, but after her first week at a new school she was already booking afterschool hang outs, phone dates and sleepovers with new friends. She thinks homework is a bore and a waste of time because it has nothing to do with One Direction or Ariana Grande, but she is starting to adust being in grade 4 and to it’s expectations. She continues to enjoy gymnastics and looks forward to continue horse riding in the new year.
Braxton has become the family’s brainiac. He is doing excellent in school and there are some areas he is excelling a few grades ahead! He walked into his new classroom with confidence and also made friends instantly. One of his best buds is his cousin Jesse who is in the same class. I don’t doubt for a minute having his cousin in his class helped him adapt so well to his new surroundings. Brax loves his new minor hockey team. He cannot wait to go to hockey - not only because of the hockey but to also hang out with his hockey buds.
Jason continues to enjoy this hockey life and everything involved with coaching. He has more responsibilites as a head coach but he welcomes the challenges. He is coaching a varsity midget team. Although he is still away alot, he will be home at christmas for 2 weeks when his team goes home for their christmas break. We are excited to have Jason home to spend family time together - attending some of Brax's hockey games and ski trips to Apex Mountain Resort. Recently we found out from Brax that Jason can never coach for the Montreal Canadians - because he doesn't know how to speak Spanish.
Jaime’s schedule has not changed one bit, if anything it has became busier! I drop kids off at activities left, right and centre, but thankfully Penticton is quite small so it doesn’t take much time to get anywhere. Patience do need to be thick as nobody drives the speed limit and when I say “speed” – don’t be confused……no one is doing any of that around here, as everyone drives under the speed limit of 50. I transferred back to the bank side of the Scotiabank Group and am working part-time, as well as back at the gym training to kick-box, in a rink cheering on Brax and at the gym watching Bella on a beam – all of where I’ve met and made some great friends already. This transition has gone very smoothly. Can't complain, well only about the drivers.
Wishing you a Safe and Happy Holiday Season.
From our home to yours,
Merry Christmas & all the best in 2015!
