The Becker Family Christmas Greeting 2023

🎄 Happy Holiday Greetings! 🎄

We hope this holiday season finds you happy and healthy, surrounded by friends and family.

The Year In Review 

~ The Becker Family 2023 ~

3 trips to Europe 🌎 ✈️ 🗺 

In March, Jason and Jaime went to Italy. In August, Bella travelled thru France, Spain and Turkey. In October, Jaime and Bella went on an impromptu trip to Paris: c'est la vie!

3 x hockey 🏒🥅 🏒  1 coach, 1 goalie, 1 billet

Jason coached Team BC at the WHL cup in Calgary, Braxton is the starting goalie this season, and we welcomed our billet Tristan into the family for the season.

1 graduation 👩🏽‍🎓  Class of 2023

Bella graduated high school this past June. Next up, Braxton - Class of 2024.

1 puppy with big, BIG energy 🐶 😈  

Benji made it to his 1st birthday. He continues to be all things naughty and sometimes nice.  He's managed to break out of 4 crates, ripped down 2 sets of blinds and chewed up Gigi's prescription glasses.  When he is distracted with making good decisions, he's the cuddliest, cutest puppy around.  He loves walks by the ocean, crab digging at the beach and sleeping in your bed.

No bad days ✈️ 🙏🏻

Even on a bad day Jaime will still find a way to enjoy her job. Not only does she like her coworkers, but that impromptu flight to Paris only cost $200 roundtrip - upgraded. Work perks for the win!

I recently learned about a term called a ✨✨✨"glimmer"✨✨✨

Glimmers are those micro moments in your day that make you feel joy, happiness, peace or gratitude.

Once you train your brain to be on the lookout for "glimmers",

 the more these tiny moments will begin to appear.

Home for the holidays

This spring, my childhood home goes up for sale. 

My mom’s 2023 Christmas wish was to have the family gather for one last Christmas at the house. 

We all eventually made it home this past week 

via different routes and dates; 

just in time for Christmas. 

Our tummies were rewarded accordingly with 

perogies, cabbage rolls, beetniks, borscht,

 short bread cookies, toffifee 

and everything else in between. 

The days were full, 

but we managed to fit in time for all.

Postcards from Paris

Dynamic Duo

Travelling with your adult kid hits different.

The sense of your children becoming real people is nothing short of amazing.

Spending this week in Paris with my daughter made me become 

aware of how much I enjoy her company; as a friend.

I love being her mom, but I love it even better

being her best friend.

We raised glasses of bordeaux, walked ridiculous amounts of steps daily,

wrecked our feet with glamourous shoes and got lost

together with the help of google maps.

She is shedding light on her interpretation of the world for me,

just as I once did for her.  She's polite, she's confident, she's stubborn,

she loves to shop, she's witty, she's put together:

she's me, but an upgraded version.

These are the memories I never want to forget.

And I won't.

I've waited her whole life to adventure off into the world with her,

not just as her mom but as her friend. 

This trip meant more to me than I can ever express.

Postcards from Paris 💌🇫🇷

We ate crepes and croissants, croissants and crepes.

Cafe stops were mandatory for cappuccino and cake!

We took on Paris in our own parisian style collaborated with all things

ribbons and bows, polka dots and pearls. 

And when it started to drizzle or rain, we opened up the umbrella;

because a rainy day in Paris is a better day than anywhere else!

We shopped the Champs elysees and snacked on cheese platters

and macarons at the Palace of Versailles.

I love the cobbled streets, the french architecture, and of course

the amazing Paris attractions.  

Even just walking along the banks of the Seine river is amazing.

Art that can be found in monumental museums or right along the street.

This trip was a definite win.

Enjoying life one cafe at a time.

Class of 2024

  Class of 2024 🎓💫 🏒🥅

 

 Here we are at it again!

However, when the baby in the house enters 

his final year of grade school, it hits different:

I want to cry and celebrate at the same time.

He has spent all 4 high school years at the Pacific Coast hockey academy

and we couldn't be more proud of how he handles 

this jam-packed schedule of academics, training and game time.

If you know him, he's always grinning ear to ear and he's always

 talking waaaaayyyyy too much!

However, most teachers and coaches along the way 

have told us they've always appreciated a *Braxton story*, 

whether on or off the bench. #factswithBrax

His character and personality make him stand out from a crowd;

his positivity is a superpower! 

He takes advice and uses it wisely.

Braxton, we hope you continue all of this and more -

 today, tomorrow and always.

THIS is what will carry you thru life. Keep being you.
